Minutes of Previous Meeting -  read and agreed

Principals Report:
Ø  Food dudes: 6 week healthy eating programme
Principal informed BOM of Healthy Eating programme taking place over 4 weeks.
Ø  Enrolment Update: 11 enrolment forms to date – more enrolments expected.
Ø  Looking at our school 2016 – A quality framework for primary schools: Managing the Organisation – Point 1 (Child Protection)
Principal informed BOM of recent changes in Child Protection.
Decision made: BOM agreed to meet Wednesday, March 10th @7pm to ratify changes in policy and discuss child protection risk assessment and safeguarding policy only.
BOM agreed to watch video online provided by TUSLA before meeting takes place.
Ø  Looking at our school 2016 – A quality framework for primary schools: Developing Leadership Capacity – Point 1 & 2 (Child Protection) See Circular 63/17 (revision of posts)
Principal informed BOM of recent revision of responsibilities of posts within the school using the framework provided in circular 63/17. Copy of updated contracts are available in appendix.
Ø  Looking at our school 2016 – A quality framework for primary schools: Developing Leadership Capacity – Point 4: IPPN Conference & IPPN Local Principal Meet Up
Principal informed BOM of attendance at IPPN 2018. Principal also informed BOM of local IPPN Inishowen meet up in school on Thursday, February 7th.
Ø  Looking at our school 2016 – A quality framework for primary schools: Leading learning and Teaching – Point 1, 4: Using ICT to Assess Literacy and Numeracy for Pupils with SEN.
Principal informed BOM of professional development taking place in school on behalf of Donegal Education Centre on March 13th. All local schools are invited to attend.
Ø  Looking at our school 2016 – A quality framework for primary schools: Leading School Development: Point 2, School Self Evaluation (2018 – Literacy)
Principal discussed taking part in School Self Evaluation with BOM. BOM discussed surveying parents in area of Literacy and general satisfaction levels in the school.
Decision made: Principal will create survey using templates from www.schoolself-evaluation.ie and previous templates the school has used. Survey will be given to parents before the end of this academic year.
Ø  Parents Association Fundraising (amount raised and funds allocation)
Principal discussed future fundraising ideas presented by Parents Committee:
5K March 19th & bag packing in Supervalu on Saturday May 5th. Ratified by BOM.
Principal outlined funds raised to date. AIB - €4344.98 Cash - €87.16
Principal praised the Parents of school for their fundraising efforts to date.
Ø  Upcoming events: February Midterm, Confirmation March 4th
Principal outlined dates and times to BOM. Approved by BOM.
Treasurers Report:

Bank Break the Cycle - €8,178.27
Bank Lunch a/c - €13, 137.68
Post Office a/c - €1,107.82
Ancillary Grant due in March (€11,376 in 2017)
ICT Grant due
o   Ancillary Staff Wages Review due soon -  currently discussing with accountant.
Safety Officers Report:
v  Heating / Oil System: Recommendations
Safety Officer explained recent events whereby there was no heating / oil / boiler broke down after Christmas holidays. Explained events which led to these circumstances.
BOM made the following recommendations:
Oil watch man to be installed in staffroom
Caretaker to turn on oil & check school 2 days before the school opens.
v  Boiler Service
Safety Officer informed BOM that McGonagles are to service boiler. BOM requested that McGonagles install ‘Oil watch man’ to staffroom during visit.
Parents Nominee noted parents were upset at not being notified about heating fault and children being unable to wear coats. Principal informed Parents Nominee that children were allowed to wear coats during school time. Principal informed BOM that internet was also down and was unable to send text to parents. Principal agreed that every effort would be made to send message to parents should a similar situation occur again.

New Child Protection Procedures – Circular 81/17
School must have a ‘Child Safeguarding Statement’ (policy)

Must be published on school website –March 11 2018 deadline
Tusla Universal online module
PDST module available in February school permitted 2 half days to access online materials
