On April 2019, we were declared a Digital School of Distinction. After a validation visit by Dr. Daithí O'Murchú, we recieved the impressive title and hope to raise our Flag in the 2019 - 2020 school year! He particularly commented on our commitment to STEM techology as well as coding strategies. Congratulations to all the pupils and staff who organised and participated in our STEM technology events throughout the year.

On October 24th, 2018 two primary schools from different communities joined together to take part in a CASE Peace IV Project. St. Boden’s N.S., Culdaff – a catholic primary school with 74 pupils and St. Mura’s N.S., Buncrana – A church of Ireland primary school with 28 pupils. Our aim was to encourage positive relationships and collaboration with children from different backgrounds.

We decided to achieve this goal through the use of STEM technology & materials in the classroom. The resources needed were funded by Leargas, for example coding materials, maths resources etc. as well as transport costs and entrance to STEM events and experiences for the pupils. Our project aims to create an understanding of differences and create positive relationships and friendships between our pupils. We decided technology in the classroom was one way to ensure this goal was achieved.

Check out the photos of our recent ‘STEM: Science in the classroom’ when St. Mura’s N.S visited St. Boden’s N.S. and took part in lots of experiments together. We have many events planned in the future such as coding in the classroom, school tours to W5 Belfast and a trip to the beach where we use sand for lots of engineering tasks. We can’t wait to have more STEM fun together this year!

Grandparents Day

On St. Bridgets Day, February 1st 2019, we invited our Grandparents into our school, as part of Catholic Schools Week, to create St. Bridgets Crosses with us. We asked them questions like 'what was it like when you were in school?'.
Afterwards, we put on a performance in the school singing lots of traditional irish songs. Check out our pictures to see what brilliant fun we had together!
