BOM APRIL 2017 AGREED REPORT:
Principals Report:
Ø New enrolments: increase from 72 to 74.
Ø SET new allocations and arrangements
Principal informed board that school was allocated 32.5hours of support in new SEN model. This entitles the school to a full time support teacher for next 2 years as well as access to 7.5 hours of support with a teacher shared with St. Marys N.S., Gleneely.
Ø Standardised testing dates:
Principal informed BOM of testing dates which are May 8th – May 12th. Children in Senior Infants will receive Drumcondra English tests. Students 1st – 6th complete MICRA –T, SIGMA – T and Drumcondra Gaeilge tests.
Ø School Reports – NCCA template
Principal requested the school switch from handwritten reports to Digital reports using the NCCA Report Card Template.
Decision made: BOM approved change.
Ø School Calendar 2017 / 2018
Principal informed BOM that staff discuss calendar dates during April staff meeting. Staff agreed
· School Opens Wednesday, August 30th @9:20am,
· Closed for midterm break February 12th – 16th.
· Closed Tuesday, May 8th,
· Closed Tuesday June 5th.
· End of school June 29th
Decision made: BOM approved dates.
Ø Confirmation / First Communion:
Confirmation took place March 11th. Fr. Haan praised efforts of school First Confession to take place Thursday April 27th , First Communion to take place Saturday, May 20th.
Ø IWB / Polytunnel dates:
To be installed week of May 15th. Official date to be forwarded by suppliers.
Ø School uniform jumpers / 6th class
Principal informed BOM that Parents Committee had researched 2 quotes for different jumpers.
Decision made: BOM observed samples and decided official jumper must be
§ Royal Blue
§ V – Neck
§ Include school crest
§ No embellishments or personalisation.
§ Plain navy tracksuit bottoms.
Principal is to bring decision to Parents Committee.
Ø Administration days
Principal requested additional administration days from the BOM.
Decision made: BOM agreed to facilitate substitute cover from Principal for at least 3 days.
Treasurers Report:
§ Training Received in An Grianan, March 7th
Chairperson, Principal and Treasurer in attendance for training provided by CPSMA.
§ Accounts presentation to BOM
Treasurer explained accountant is looking for additional information for accounts 2015/16 therefore final accounts will not be completed for April 30th deadline.
Accountant is also to complete 1 page overview of accounts for Parents to view.
§ Parents Association transfer of funds 2017/18
As part of training provided by CPSMA it was explained that PA should donate all unused funds to school at end of academic year.
Decision made: Principal and treasurer will meet with Chairperson and Treasurer of Parents Association to discuss.
§ Cheque signatories
Decision made: Current practice whereby treasures signs cheques and principal signs ledger will continue.
§ Parents Access to school accounts
Decision made: One page overview will be available for parents to view when they make an appointment with principal. One page overview will also be disseminated at end of year Parents Association meeting.
§ Brightpay
Software system that completes school payroll.
Decision made: Free trial will be downloaded and discussed at next BOM meeting.
§ School Meal Inspection
School lunch bank account and paperwork to be inspected by the Department of Social Protection on April 27th at 9:30am. Treasurer, secretary and principal have prepared relevant paperwork.
Safety Officers Report:
· Easter works – Donegal County Council
Safety officer discussed work done to date - gullys raised, pitching and edging has taken place. Spraying and chipping of road to take place during May.
· DFI Application
Application has been unsuccessful due to additional funds needed for Ferry.
· CLÁR Application
Safety officer and principal worked together to submit application for funding to complete car park and road works. Chairperson discussed local people will to volunteering to ensure job progresses.
· Policy Development: Fire Evacuation Policy, Data Protection, Grievance Procedure.
Decision made: To be completed by staff in upcoming term.
